Walking Tour of Herculaneum

Another ancient roman town destroyed, but at the same time also preserved by the fury of the volcano in 79 A.D.

Situated in a wonderful position, overlooking the bay of Naples, Herculaneum was smaller than Pompei but much more refined.

It was a favourite holiday resort of the wealthy romans. For a long time its inhabitants were believed to have escaped but this belief changed in the 1980’s when over 300 skeletons were discovered lying on the ancient beach.
